Tentacle Revision

OCTOOLPUS
Alexa and Naomi
After a experimenting with the form of the octoolpus on a life large scale, we decided that the tentacle should have more structure before user testing. Our previous model had almost flat tentacles that couldn't be detatched. Within the past couple of days I tried revising the overall shape of them - though somewhat time consuming, the overall feel, shape and quality of the tentacles have been improved. The picture above are only 2 parts of the 3 compartments...

I think that making the end pointed rather than square is a big improvement, much more octopus like. However I'm still very curious as to how this is going to look as a whole structure. I'm wondering if maybe you should be making a rougher prototype to get the form down and leave things like putting in zippers until later.

This new prototype looks a lot better then the first one you guys had from last week. THe first prototype you guys had had more stuffing then free space to actually put stuff in. Does this one have more room and compartments to put things in? And can you put things in all along the tails from top to bottom?

The new tentacle shape is definitely an improvement. If the idea is to be able to attach and detach these compartments from each other, if you put things in there, will it hold? Also, i'm not sure if the three pictures you posted are 3 different pieces that are supposed to be connected. If they are, then i think they might be too long. Are you guys designing for a certain chair/stool?

i think this looks great! it has improved from what you had last week although i really liked the shape of the octopus head very much so i hope that doesnt change drasticly.

have you thought about lining/ have you lined it with anything? how does that work...how much stuffing in relation to free space?
